Gday all,

A great weekend has just past with the Wagga World War being conducted at Kapooka. The event attracted a few blokes all the way from Sydney which was fantastic. It was the first trial of our new painting and sportsmanship scoring methods. By all accounts the feedback has been very positive. So from me, cheers. A full breakdown of scores is available under results in the tournaments tab or the club site.

Our new mates all the way in QLD at WW40k - Darling Downs had a great time attending a Warhammer 40k event over the weekend also. Brett Purdon and his Doubles partner came 1st – well done lads. A proper battle report of this event will be available in our next club newsletter.

Reports from Hurstville show that they are foaming at the mouth for some of the upcoming tournaments in Sydney as they have begun organising a fair bit of dedicated painting time at member’s houses and at club itself.

WW40k is also happy to announce that it is sponsoring an event in Regional NSW located at orange in NSW, along with our best buddies The Combat Company. WW40k has helped these guys arrange a cool free venue for use while TCC is coming to the table with unbeatable prizes a coolness support. The details for this event are available under tournaments and on wargamerau.com. There will be free accommodation for WW40k Club members who attend this event and who attend our Big Bash the week prior. So if u are travelling to Wagga or Orange. Please email for bed space details.

Shirts will be ordered this weekend. Please email for details.

Cheers and good gaming.

Hey Hey,

A busy few weeks all over the place.

Kapooka has been getting back into the swing of things with some normal gaming and guys preparing for the big 3k comp in about a weeks time.

The guys at Hurstville have had a good few meets; its saw the guys try the Horus Heresy board game out last weekend. From what i am told it was enjoyable but the IQ of the game bested Russ when he was attempting to play it - :)

Newcastle has recieved all of their new terrain which has seen Shaun painting like a mad man so that they can be on schedule for their first offical meet.

Pucka has been quiet for a few weeks as Paul has been crook - so every one please send the Emperor a communique and get the Apothocaries to pull their fingers out please :)

Tindal - is not far from their August meet and have told me we should get our hands on some cool pictures of them getting upto no good.

Other stuff in the works - dont forget that the club annual is now in full production. We have started recieveing appointments for those who wish to have their armies printed in all its glory amongst the pages of this cool book. For guys not in Wagga, I will be travelling to sydney in september and october and am willing to make appointments so guys in chapters outside of wagga can get their stuff in it too.

Events in the works - we are sending teams to Emperor's Legion on 17/18 Sept and to MOAB on the NSW OCt 3 day long weekend. To get involved with these events please see Ty asap. For those that are in Syd already please send ur names to Ty so we can get a full club players list going.

Shirts - We have new shirts!!!!! They are very similar to the existing ones but with our sponsors logo on the collar. We wish to place our first order asap. Please email asap for details and costs. It is my intent that everyone attendng MOAB and Emp legion get a shirt so we can fly the club colours and spread the WW40k love :)

Cheers all and good gaming

Gday all,

Yesterday saw the first of our Youngblood events. It saw a final field of 12 players duke it out for the title in what appeared to be a fast paced and fun event for all involved. It also herald one of the major shifts in responsibility for our club staff due to take the reigns of -the Kapooka Chapter next year – with Ben Humphries successfully taking the lead and playing TO for the event – cheer mate.

The final results were as follows:

Generalship - Taryn Gamble - Orks
Runner up - Matt Kerry - Marines

Best painted - Taryn Gamble - Orks
Runner up - Brett Manning - Marines

Best Sport - Dominic Proctor - Guard
Runner up - Alex South – Orks

Our next major event will be our biggest for the year. The “Wagga Waaagh!” will see 40 players go toe to toe over two days to be crowned the most awesomest general ever – well for the Waaagh! anyways J

The competition is a 1500 point 40k event and includes our winter painting competition and the six painting categories that event sets out for us to celebrate the hobby and painting prowess of our club members and those that take the time to travel from out of town.

In other good news we are happy to announce that Russell and The Combat Company will be attending the event and offering great discounts to competition participants and club members of WW40k along with their sponsorship for event prize support.

For more info please see
www.ww40k.com and follow our links to The Combat Company

For all details of the Wagga Waaagh! please see the rules pack. Registration and army lists are due in very shortly. You will have to be quick or you may miss out.

Hey hey,

The Autumn painting Competition has come and gone. And what a bloody great show it was.

We had a total of 45 entries over six catagories. Including a great turnout within the Single figure and Squad catagories.

Our three judges (Eddie, Stefan and John) had their work cut out for them as they scored each entry in great detail before their scores were averaged to gain an overall model score.

As for the judges painting - they all entered in the Masterclass catagory and had their work voted for by everyone else!

All in all I have been told by the judges that they were very impressed with the vast overall imporvement across the board with painting throughout the club. Lets keep it going and raise the bar everywhere. There are some people to watch in the future thats for sure.

All of the catagory winners have now been advanced into the Masterclass catagory and the Youngbloods winner into the mainstream competition. This is a deliberate move to encourage painters to enter and not hold back being afraid to compete with the clubs elite hobbyist.

There was a $50 Gift Voucher for the Combat Company up for grabs in each catagory. $300 in prizes!

The winners for the catagories are as follow:

Single Mini: Josh Brown
Single Mini Runner Up: Ben Humphries

Squad: Josh Brown
Squad Runner Up: Neil Fortiscue

Vehicle Winner: Josh Brown
Vehicle Runner Up: Neil Fortiscue

Large Model Winner: Luke Baldacchino
Large Model Runner Up: Ty Casey

13 and Under Winner: Alex South
13 and Under Runner Up: Zac Appleby

Masterclass Winner: John Murphy
Masterclass Runner Up: Eddie Duncan

Well done all!

Our Winter Painting Competition is only about 8 weeks away....... time to pick up that brush.

Gday all,

WW40k is happy to announce its continuation has been confirmed next year even with the potential posting of myself and Eddie with the appointment of another military member to oversee the running and quality of the experience and gaming that you have all come to know and love at WW40k.. We are in the process of ensuring that WW40k’s success story continues for years to come. Dont stress though as Eddie and I will still be heavily involved in WW40k including the establishment of its sister club to be announced early next year in Canberra.

We already have a few people earmarked for a key role in the management of our Sunday gaming sessions. However are requesting that anybody interested please email ww40k@hotmail.com so that we can find the best people for the job. You must show keen enthusiasm for all aspects of the hobby, be approachable, have good people skills and be able to show the required skills to teach others how to do basic painting and run introduction games for new gamers. You must also be prepared to run the club on a Sunday at least 3 times a month from 9am until 5pm.

This Sunday sees us getting prepared for the up and coming Autumn painting competition. It is only about 4 weeks away team. There are big prizes up for grabs and there has also been a new Masterclass category created for senior painters and club staff to enter – to be judged by you the members – exciting stuff!!!! (Details available this Sunday at club)

More to follow as it develops – your club manager for next year should be decided over the next few months – watch this space.

Cheers and good gaming.

Gday lads,

Thought I would let you know how our event went yesterday. In short - bloody fantastic. All involved had a good time and it gave us great oppertunity to gain a few new players to the hobby as well as get our younger members invloved in something a bit more formal. We always start small at WW40k and build in point size as the year goes on and peeps painted collections increase for this reason.

We ended up playing 6 of the 7 planned rounds (Last round cancelled due to Kapooka flooding - lol) with the results being so random it was anybodys event right up to about round 5 - even going into round 6 it was between about 5 peeps.

The smaller games seemed to bring out the best in the gamers. All were not only frustrated by their limited choices allowed but were also faced to make their tactical desicions on the edge of their seats  - generally one mistake costed them the game. It also showed peeps the pros and cons of their core troops choices within their armies.

The results for the day were:

Best General : John Murphy - Imperial Guard - Author of the WW40k Club Book you have all seen parts of.

Best Painted Army - Eddie Duncan - Space Wolves - also came in 2nd by 6 points only. (painting voted by the players them selves)

Best Sportsmanship - Alex South - Orks - Daughter of one of our club Army members - and her first event - Well Done (Sports voted by the players them selves) - (and yes we have quite a few chicks at our club - "uber nerds cringe" - lol)

Encouragement Award - Daniel Smith - Nids - An up and coming young gamer who did very well at the event considering his experence - a good effert overall - (Decided by the event organisers)

They each went home with a $75 gift voucher and a framed certificate.

Photos are in the club gallery.

Our next Tourny is the 1000 point Contact Front 40k comp in May.  Our next event is our Autumn Painting comp - would love some entries from ADF Gamers (Prefered that you are there in person - but may -case by case - allow peeps to enter by mail etc... more to follow)

Cheers and Good gaming.

Hey hey,

A great weekend... Saturday saw myself and Tam represent the club at a community expo hosted by the Army Recruit Training Centre.

We had quite a few people check out what we get upto and talked to quite a few people who either used to play or had children/mates that currently did and were not already aware of WW40k. With any luck we should start seeing some new faces on sundays.

Sunday saw the first of what will be a regular 'Formal' Painting Masterclass. This first installment was a begiinners class. Topics covered ranged from - Why we paint an Army; WYSIWYG; Colour Theory; Mixing Paints; Assembly; Basing; Basecoating; Drybrushing and lots more.

All who particpated gave great feedback; learnt heaps and will be back for seconds. It will be great to see the members who attended now go and attempt their newly gained skills on their own armies.

Our next class will be another beginners class. Be aware due to preparation and the max size of the class - registration and prepayment in advance is needed. The next class will be held on Sunday 21st March 2010.

Next week sees a big Fantasy participation game. Those of you with WFB armies are encourgaed to bring them along. Bonus club champ points will be up for grabs for all who play.

Also dont forget that our Tounry is only 2 weeks away - Sunday 7th March 2010. There are very few spots left. Remember also that if we want prizes that I need event payment asap - or we might miss out on a big prize pool. At this stage it could be a big as $350 if it is all gotten to me. Not a bad haul i think! Lots of plastic up for grabs!

Remember to read the rules pack and get your lists in for checking.

Thats heaps for now.... Cheers and Good gaming
